10 Ways to Improve Your Immunity

Right now, more than ever, we need to take care of ourselves. There are ways we can build up our immunity system and take control of our health. Today I am sharing 10 simple ways you can start today to improve your immunity!

1. Eat a Healthy Balanced Diet – One of the ways to take care of yourself is starting from the inside out. The nutrients that you get from your food keeps your body properly nourished to fight off any illnesses.

2. Get Quality Rest – You always hear how important it is to get a good night’s rest! Your immune system is strengthened and fine-tuned while you’re sleeping. When you don’t get enough sleep, your immune system may not be up to the task of defending your body against harmful invaders. If you did not get enough sleep, try to squeeze in a nap during the day to feel more refreshed. They’re not called power naps for no reason!

3. Manage Stress – I can’t lie and say I have not been stressed during these past few weeks. Who isn’t? There are lots of different ways to help manage your stress during this time. I like to take about 5 minutes in my day to meditate and reflect on the things I am thankful for. There are free apps available such as Headspace and Calm. Some like to color, draw, or journal to relieve some stress. Start off small and do at least one stress-reducing activity a day.

4. Stay Connected – Being away from friends and family can be lonely and isolating during this time. I’m so thankful for technology so that we may stay connected. Lots of people are using Zoom or Google Hangout to have a virtual ‘happy hour’ with friends. There’s Skype or FaceTime so that you can talk to your family and check to see how they’re doing. There are also games to challenge one another from afar such as Words with Friends or Draw Something. Seeing and hearing from our loved ones improves our mood.

5. Stay Hydrated – This is easier said than done for a lot of people, including me! Luckily, I found Nuun tablets which are full of electrolytes to support your immune system. It’s a hydration tablet that’s full of the good and not loaded with sugar and artificial anything. You just drop a tablet and let it dissolve in your water! It has a slight fizz and makes me feel 100% more hydrated and better rested.

We’ve been using Nuun since I was 6 months pregnant. There are so many different lines, each designed to best fit your lifestyle. The immunity line is like a cleaner version of emergency. I take it everywhere with me. My uncle who travels 300 days out of the year swears by this stuff. You can find the Immunity Orange Citrus or Blueberry Tangerine at Walmart! If your local Walmart store or walmart.com is out of stock check out nuunlife.com to order.

6. Make Sure to Get You’re A-B-C-D-Es – Sometimes eating a well-balanced diet does not mean we are getting everything we need. That’s why with Nuun vitamins it makes it easier for me to get my vitamin intake which will make sure my immunity system is ready to take on any illnesses head on. Each tablet  contains a boost in the 11 different vitamins most under-consumed in the average diet. I LOVE the way it tastes in my water and so does my daughter Kai. It’s bubbly, yummy and I feel like I have more energy to keep up with the kiddos.

7. Exercise regularly – This does not have to be anything fancy with any equipment. Taking a walk for half an hour will get your heart pumping and help keep you healthy.

8. Soak Up Some Sunshine – Getting outside and getting fresh air can feel so good if you have been cooped up inside the house all day. Sunshine helps produce Vitamin D which in turn help your immune system.

9. Wash Your Hands Often – It doesn’t matter the season; everyone should be washing their hands often. This helps prevent the spread of germs! It takes only 20 seconds each time you wash so make sure to be singing those hand washing songs inside your head while you scrub away those germs!

10. Laughter is the Best Medicine – I truly believe that there is nothing better than to have a good laugh every day. Watch a show or an old video, read a book, play a silly game; find something that will help take your mind off the situation that we’re all in!
