Sep 12 Bedtime Routines plus Smart Lights with Sengled

One of the things we insisted on the night Kai came home was a dedicated bed time routine. There weren't many things we got right the first time around but, we felt solid about this! Today, I'll be sharing with you the top 5 things we do and how simple changes with smart light bulbs helps us along the way!

1. After Dinner Dance Party

After sitting in her highchair through an entire meal, Kai always gets the wiggles. She tends to slees better when she lets the extra energy out. Since she is soooo into music right now, we always have a good old fashion dance party! Her favorite songs are by the Beatles and it's so fun to watch! I discovered Sengled Pulse and was floored by how cool it is! Sengled Pulse are smart lights that are also bluetooth speakers you can control from your phone! It can be linked with Amazon Alexa or another smart device for handsfree control! We just turn up the volume and have a good time!

2. Bubbles, Bath and Lotion

This part is pretty simple. The only thing that we do differently is the use of lavender oils. I just dab a couple of drops into coconut oil and massage the mixture into the bottom of her feet. Bonus, the calming scent always puts me in a good mood!

3. Book and Song

We continue to wind down by saying goodnight to all the animals in the house (real and stuffed). At this point, she is snuggled in and ready for her book. We pick out a book to read in our rocker and I can feel her drifting to sleep. We picked "You Are My Sunshine" to sing to her the night she came home from the hospital. After her book, every night, we sing the same song to her. I like to do this with dimmed lights. We use the Twilight Sengled bulb because it has an automatic dimmer feature. After you turn the light off, the Twilight Bulb dims for 15 seconds before shutting off. It sets the relaxing mood and allows for a perfect transition into bed time.
