Family Adventures: What I learned about Glamping
One of the bucket list things I have been dying to explore is camping with Kai. She is a little over 2 years old right now and we have been toying with the idea of overnight camping for a while. I wasn’t sure how the logistics was going to work with setting up a tent and tending to a baby. Our motto has always been “just do it” when it comes to traveling with children but with all the gear and materials required, I wasn’t ready to commit without a trial run. My AH-HA moment came when I found out about glamping. Yes, what a wonderful solution for first time campers, especially those with young children! We found a farm called Green Acres in Elgin (outside of Austin), Texas with electricity, outdoor kitchen, yurts with heat and AC. We knew instantly we HAD to take Kai. This really was the best of both worlds in our eyes. We still get to explore nature and trails but also have all the modern amenities like a bathroom and shower.
I recapped the weekend with this fun video below. You can see the variety of animals we got to meet at Green Acres in addition to the grounds and our sleeping set up.
The entire set up was like a dream. We had a queen size comfortable bed and Kai enjoyed her My Cot Portable Toddler Bed from Regalo Baby. We have been traveling with Regao Baby products ever since Kai was an infant. We have used their My Play Portable Play Yard for pit stops and contained entertainment. Their little booster chair is such a hit with Kai too! This trip, we got to take Kai’s My Cot Portable Toddler Bed for a spin. She loves for us to set the cot up in her playroom as a spot to sit and chill. We finally have the opportunity to use it properly as a napping cot while glamping and I cannot say enough good things about it! It’s light weight and easy to carry (yes it comes in its own carrying bag). We set up the cot in under 2 minutes. All it takes is unfolding out of the bag and putting on the sheets. The most convenient part is that My Cot comes with perfectly fitted sheets so there is no need to hunt down an extra long crib sheet. The My Cot Portable Toddler Bed comes in Blue, Grey and Pink in regular and extra long. Kai is obsessed with the pink color. I must admit, it’s both functional and adorable.
As for extracurricular actives, our days were filled with donkey feedings, tacos under the barn, roasting marshmallows and hiking at the nearby McKinney Falls State park. All in all, our family’s first taste of camping experience was a smashing success. To see more toddler travel tips, check out my previous road trip help guide here.
