3 Murals and Interactive Art Installations to Visit this weekend in Houston
You guys know I am always on the hunt for the BEST and most Instagram worthy photo spots in Houston. Why not combine the best of both worlds and hunt down beautiful places to visit, take photos AND play with the art? Houston is such a diverse city with murals galore. Zappos challenged us to define Fearlessly Independent and to me, it means not afraid to explore the off beat path. This applies in places we travel, things I choose to teach Kai and also my career path. Not being afraid to take the long way and enjoying the road along the way. That’s why I put together 3 new places for you to explore with us this weekend. These fun modern interactive installations are fearlessly unique, fearlessly independent!
When out around town, invest in quality footwear without sacrificing style. Zappos is my personal shoe mecca and makes it easy for the modern woman to find everything she needs. In this digital day and age,I cannot be more thankful for a store like Zappos who will stand behind me with 365 day returns, fast and free shipping plus the best customer service out there. Their newest line with New Balance is the epitome of the modern woman on the go. I love that New Balance stands for idea of winning but with integrity and purpose, just like I teach Kai. New Balance is also fearlessly independent and has always paved their own way for developing the smartest products. I love this partnership and feel so aligned with Zappos x New Balance Values.
As for the shoes I chose to go on this fun journey, the Fresh Foam Cruz v2 nailed it in style and function. The New Balance® Fresh Foam Cruz v2 Knit running shoes has a beautiful knit upper and feels light as a feather. They feel flexible and supportive enough for high impact and high speed running and look stylish enough to hit the coffee shop after. They come in so many modern and neutral colors. I think they are the best athleisure/running shoes I have ever owned
Now on to the top Instagrammable interactive art installations in Houston you to visit this weekend!
1. Smither Park/ Orange Show
Smither Park is located by the airport with large and vibrant mosaic covered murals. There are colorful swings, reflective walls, a unique white wall covered in broken china. It’s so interesting everywhere you look. One of my favorite interactive live art pieces in Houston. Be sure to tour the Orange Show next door. It looks like an old time-y theme park with colorful artifacts.
2. The Flower Vault
Flower vault is a unique photo location in Houston with 4 rooms filled with colorful blooms. Each room has a different theme. There is an iconic peony wall and the fall rainbow room is stunning too! Open Thursday through Monday.
3. Discovery Green
Discovery Green just closed out their latest Moon Garden LED light live art installation. Check back to their website often for interactive art pieces. The Frostival with ice sculptures is coming Oct 16th with ice carving and battling. Outdoor iceskating is also open now!
So excited to see where this season will take you and which New Balance shoes from Zappos you will choose! For more on our family travel blogging adventures, please follow us on Instagram @Joyfullygreen.
