3 Stress Free Photo Tips with Kids to Capture Your Authentic Summer
Thank you Stage Stores for sponsoring this post. As always all opinions and thoughts are my own.
June 29th is National Camera Day and I want to help you capture all those priceless summer moments stress free! Whether you are on vacation with the family or enjoying an afternoon at the pool, there will certainly be gramable moments you want to capture with your family! But if you have ever tried to take a photo of a wild 3 year old, you know it’s not a simple feat! I’m sharing my 3 stress free photo tips with kiddos to capture your authentic summer!
1. Pack Smart!
When our family goes on a summer trip or outing, thinking a little ahead about what everyone will wear and when ahead of time takes the stress and struggle away from the day. I love planning coordinating outfits with Kai ahead of time and as long as she is enjoying it too, I’d love to keep this fun tradition going. The easiest way to think about mommy and me matching is to stick to a theme or color family. I found our summer mommy and me matching outfit at stage.com and it was so affordable, I was able to pick up an extra outfit too. Stage Stores had so many summer fabulous styles, beauty and home finds, it was easy to find exactly what I wanted at a fantastic price. In this blog post today, I am wearing the Nina Leonard Women's Stripe Linen Midi Dress in small. The fabric is so well made and I love the modern look of the blue stripes. The was it tie makes it fit amazingly and the pockets are a huge plus for mommies like me! It’s also pregnancy and nursing friendly! I found it on sale at Stage here!
Kai’s dress is such a great deal you better run now! At $12.99, it’s a steal! The striped texture on the fabric feels luxurious and the bow detail in the back is just darling. I love the bow detail so much, I actually styled it backwards on her! So you can totally wear it both ways!
2. Know Your Light.
Mid day/ bright sun photos are the hardest because the light casts a shadow on your face. Also, getting kids to open their eyes in the bright sun is kind of hilarious. My trick for grabbing the perfect portrait on the go no matter the time of day? Get in the shade! The light is much more even and it’s easier to see those smiles! Plus it lets me get the shot super fast and then move on to enjoy the day!
3. Be in the Moment!
As much as we all want to get that instagram perfect shot, life is happening in front of your eyes! Go live the moment instead of trying to document it! I love grabbing a quick shot of kiddos as they are playing, splashing or even running away. Don’t worry about perfect poses or cheesy smiles. Just have fun with it! Kai is getting really into cameras and I have always wanted an Instax because let’s be real, who has time to print photos? I bought a pink Instax camera at Stage (they had so many fun colors!), and it’s allowing us to capture the most real, in the moment snaps! Kai LOVES to put on a silly face for the pink camera. Watching the rainbow colored film come out intrigues her even more! I think it’s about making it light and fun for them instead of seeing photos as a chore. Having the Instax handy this summer is surely becoming my favorite way to capture life in the moment. Head to stage.com now to pick up your official summer camera! Your kiddos are sure to go crazy over it! I know i’m going to pick up the mega cute blue carrying case and a pack of magnetic install frame for the fridge next!
No matter where your summer takes you, remember to soak in every minute! I can’t wait to see all our precious summer photos! Happy snapping!
