4 Ways to Help A Pet in Need Besides Adoption
Thank you Hill’s Pet Nutrition for sponsoring this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you have been on our channels for the last few years, you know that our pets are FAMILY! Before the babies came along, Atlas and Olie made us feel like HOME. If all this time at home recently has made you consider adding a lifelong friend, let me share Olie’s adoption story in the hope that you will consider adopting a shelter pet!
Olie was only weeks old when his rescue group found his mom and brother abandoned together. He was covered in fleas and fought off heartworms and barely made it through. One night, Kevin saw him online and just knew we had to meet him. I have always wanted a dog but never took care of one before, so, I was a bit intimidated but committed to the challenge. The moment I held Olie, he just melted into my arms. I KNEW he was mine and I, his. Now Olie is the fierce protector of the family, though he never met a cat or baby he didn’t like. We are forever thankful for his shelter, vet and foster parents who took care of him before he chose us to be his family. This is why I am so excited to work with Hill’s Pet Nutrition for a second year in a row on their largest adoption event!
This month, Hill’s is sponsoring a virtual event, resources & providing a helpful portal to get you one step closer to your life long bff. There is even a quiz to help you find the best pet suitable for your lifestyle and ways to ease the transition. You can also access tips for new pet parents plus savings for the diet that is right for them. Last year, 1,900+ shelters participated and 160,000+ pets found their forever homes! Head to the adoption page if you need a little guidance!
Not quite in a spot to commit for the long haul? There are still so many ways to help out in the largest adoption event, even right from your couch!
Here are a 4 ideas to help animals in need besides adopting!
- Foster long term or short term. Try out the responsibility of pet parenthood and help shelters with spacing challenges.
- Pet photographer. Creative friends, help capture the personality of our fur friends with high quality images and increase their chances of adoption!
-Donate. Many shelters keep a wishlist and welcome other household items too like blankets, towels, cleaners, pet beds. Call ahead to see what they are most in need of.
- Teach your kids to love pets! Love and compassion starts naturally at a young age. Read to your kids about how shelters work and talk over volunteer options! Hill’s also has a wonderful free e-book that helps kids understand the importance of pet adoption & care.
Together we can help our furry friends in need and make this event the best yet! Head to the adoption page now to find ways to help or your forever best friend! https://bit.ly/30VapUA
