5 Kid Friendly Social Distancing Outdoor Activities

5 Kid Friendly Social Distancing Outdoor Activities

Thank you Zappos for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

The past few months have been such an interesting time for the whole world. Like so many people, our family has been staying home and reevaluating our regular activities to make sure that it's safe for us and for those around us. As adults, we are better equipped to handle these types of situations. For little ones, it's harder on them since they do not fully understand why they can't see their friends or have to stop going to school. Kai struggled so much at the beginning! We are such social butterflies and having it come to an abrupt stop turned our world upside down for sure! We have been trying to find ways to still make it outdoors and get some fresh air. It really helps change everyone's mood! Here are a few kid friendly social distancing outdoor activities that you can look into to help get out of the house!

5 kid friendly social distancing outdoor activities

1. Beach/Lake - Since the beaches have reopened here in Texas, it seems like everyone is flocking to it! I get it! It's summer and we all want to put our toes in the sand! We usually try to find more secluded beaches and make sure we keep our distance from others. We're lucky that our beaches are about an hour away. A few beaches I recommend are Beach Town and Surf Side. They're not as crowded and you can easily spread out. One tip that I do recommend if you're headed to the beach or lake is to pack your own potty for the kids and pack lots of snacks for everyone!

Another tip I recommend is to use a bag to carry all your essentials. I love my Baggallini New Classic Take Two Bryant Crossbody I got on Zappos! I am able to fit everything I need that is essential, it's super lightweight, and I have two hands free to chase after my kids. It’s perfect to hold my phone and slots for my cards so It doubles as a wallet. I used to carry big purses and so many things got lost within it and I had a hard time searching for what I was looking for. Now I use the crossbody to hold all my essentials within my usual giant diaper bag. It’s so easy to grab and go! This crossbody is seriously a lifesaver!

2. Drive-thru Animal Safari - As things are opening back up here in Texas, the drive-thru safari is one that we're excited about! It's socially distancing at it's finest. You don't even have to get out of your car! You'll get a chance to see animals up close and personal. Some even have options to purchase food to feed the animals. Remember to pack those hand sanitizers and wipes! A few safaris in Texas include Franklin Drive-Thru Safari and Bayou Wildlife Zoo. Be sure to check when each park is open.

3. Scenic Country Drive - This is an absolutely free activity! I'm all about free! This is a great time to explore your own backyard! Houston is such a big city and I barely know anything about it! There are so many scenic routes we have yet to explore so I'm excited to find out what my city and state has to offer. Don't forget to pack that potty and lots of snacks!

4. Berry Picking - It's berry picking season! One of our favorite times of the year! I love supporting our local farmers! Lots of local Houston farms are open for berry picking such as Atkinson Farms, P-6 Farms, Blessington Farms, and Froberg's Farm. This is also the perfect time for me to carry my Baggallini crossbody while making memories with the family! Make sure to see if you need to schedule a time to come to pick berries.

5. Hike in a State Park- Another fun way to get out of the house is to go for a hike. Like I said before, this is a great time to explore your city! I know there are many great little hiking spots around Houston that are great for families. The Houston Arboretum is a great little nature hike outside the city of Houston. Bugs are pretty prevalent in Houston so I would definitely be carrying some bug spray in my Baggallini crossbody during our hike!

Baggallini offers so many functional, lightweight and cute purses. I ordered it all on Zappos and it came lightening fast. As a Zappos Rewards member, expedited shipping is always free! We love the 24/7 available customer service and wonderful shopping experience Zappos provides. They have a huge selection of shoes, fashion and anything else that would brighten our day! Best part, the 365 day return policy takes the guesswork out of shopping online. It’s our go to for accessories and fun fashion finds! Be sure to check out Baggallini’s line!

Hopefully these ideas will inspire you to get outside with your kids this Summer!
