5 Texas Summer Family Road Trip Ideas

Summer is right around the corner and I could not be more excited! I have such fond memories of many road trips growing up going to the beaches, national parks, or even a quick trip to a nearby hiking trail. Now with my own kids, I want to make the same memories with them. There is something special about an open road, endless skies, the sun on your cheeks, and the wind in your hair.

We never forget to pack the SPF to protect our skin but what about our hair? My hair has been through the ringer with color damage and sun damage throughout the years. Before my trips, I like to make sure my hair is taken care of, so it is one less thing I must worry about. I use Aveeno Hair Sunflower Oil Blend Shampoo and Conditioner to nourish and revive my dull strands. The sunflower oil is harnessed from the farms out in the Midwest and put straight into the shampoo. With the sunflower oil and Aveeno’s signature oat, my hair feels looks and feels ready to tackle the road trip with my family! Here are some fun road trips to let your hair hang loose if you happen to be in Texas.

  1. Round Top – For an eclectic little boutique hotel, The Frenchie in Round Top, TX is a must! I have fallen in love with the décor there and it is such a nice relaxing place to unwind with the family.

  2. Brazos State Park – There is so much to do at this beautiful park! You can fish on their lakes, hike or bike on their trails, have a nice family picnic, or even camp here. We love visiting the Brazos State Park!

  3. Big Bend National Park – Nature at it’s finest! You can spend days exploring this park and still not see it all!

  4. Cascade Caverns – Explore this cool living cavern right outside of San Antonio. There is a guided 45-minute tour that you can take and you’ll be surprised at how cool it is under there!

  5. Caddo Lake - This 25,400-acre lake and bayou on the border between Texas and Louisiana has a beautiful backdrop of cypress trees, really interesting hiking trails and boating opportunities.

So, pack your bags and hit the road this summer! There is so much to see and explore out there!
