Fall Hair Care Routine for Color + Heat Treated Hair

This blog post is sponsored by Aveeno.

This past summer, I took the plunge and did something I haven’t done in years; I got my hair colored! I felt like it was time for a change, and it was a fun way to refresh my look! You always hear how hard it is to maintain your color treated hair, but I am here to tell you that it is not as hard as you think! Now that Fall is here, I want to stretch out the life of the color for it to last all season long. Here are a few tips on how to keep your hair healthy and help maintain the vibrancy of your hair color with the help of .

  1. One of the first things to change out in your haircare routine once you have color treated hair, is what you wash your hair with. Choosing a product carefully before you lather up makes such a big difference. Sulfates are the ingredients that create the foaming effect, but it can also strip you of your natural oils and the color. I have been using Aveeno Blackberry Quinoa Protein Blend Shampoo and Conditioner and am so impressed with how nourished my strands feel. The best thing is that it is free from sulfates, dyes, and parabens which makes me feel good being able to use it daily.

  2. Nothing makes me feel more glamorous than when I curl my hair, but I know heat can be your hair’s worst enemy.  Blow drying, curling, or straightening hair without a proper heat protectant can lead to breakage. I know to protect and restore my hair from heat damage with Aveeno Heat Shield Mist. A few quick spritz on my damp hair and I am good to go! Another pro tip that I heard from my stylist was to avoid curling the ends of your hair to protect it from breakage.

  3. Are you tired of waking up with frizzy hair? Try switching out your pillowcase to a silk one. The smooth material reduces friction which can prevent knotting and damage. Silk pillowcases will further supplement your devoted haircare by supporting your hair while you sleep.

  4. Just like switching out your pillow to silk is good for your hair, so is ditching the hair ties and using silk scrunchies or large claw clips. I was so happy to see the scrunchie trend make a comeback and even happier to see that there are now silk ones available. Another bonus is that it minimizes kinks in your hair on top of being trendy!
