Boho Mommy and Me Joy Plus Love Styled Shoot
Summer is in full swing! What better to celebrate longer sunny days than a boho mommy and me picnic! I have teamed up with Joy Plus Love to bring you the sweetest baby girl outfits paired with feminine mommy pieces that are all frame worthy!
The inspiration for this boho mommy and me session came from the Lil Lemon's line carried at Joy Plus Love. I fell in love with the easy going summer styles, the lace details and the girly prints. Since I always get questions about how to style mother daughter coordinating outfits, I thought it would be a great idea to show you how to layer with texture and neutral color tones while still remaining true to the bohemian style.
The beautiful, glamping-esque scenery was designed in partnership with Pottery Barn Town and Country. We used low tables and wooden serving boards to create an elevated casual picnic experience to match the elegant style of Joy Plus Love's clothing.
I was really impressed with all the pieces from Joy Plus Love. They carried all my favorite brands like Paush Mini, Jeux de Bebe and Mini Dressing. It was so hard to decide which piece to feature but when I first laid my eyes on this Addy Lemondrop Lil' Lemons romper, it was love at first sight! I adored the subtle lemon print and the delicate bow finishes. I paired Kai's baby girl romper with a solid mustard dress in a lace fabric to inspire the romantic boho feelings.
For family sessions or mommy and me photoshoots, I certainly recommend dressing your babies in rompers if they are the climbing/crawling age. Kai is a little over 1 year here and still wobbly. The cute rompers allowed her to move freely and I did not have to worry about adding bloomers to her ourfit.
I have added a new section at the bottom of the blog posts to round up all the outfits featured in this post. It's super easy to shop the post now!
Kai's second look was this fantastic flutter sleeved Sammy Gingham Baby Overalls by Lil Lemon from Joy Plus Love. The sweet gingham pattern is the perfect transition piece from summer to fall. Can't you picture it with leggings and and a blush colored cardigan?
I paired her look with color neutral dress and a lace kimono to add depth to the photos. The laying looks work great for family photos or christmas pictures because it adds to the interest of the frame.
Of course, bringing floral bouquets (these gorgeous blooms are by The Bouqs Co) and adding floral crowns help set the bohemian tone as well!
Now for the picnic portion of the session, Whisk Bakery whipped up a delicious lemon blue berry pound cake with lemon icing. We also enjoyed scones and lemon tarts, the perfect summer desserts!
So the next time you are wondering what to wear in family photos, I find it the easiest to start with the children's wear. Don't be afraid to bring in patterns or prints, just as long the mommy outfits are nice and nuetral to match!
One last thing, always bring the fur babies! Look how happy Olie is! Just throw a dog wreath (like this one College Park Flowers made) over his neck and he is camera ready!
