Nursery Transformation with Colorful Mural Wallpaper (Before & After)
Do you love a good room transformation? Well, I have a treat for you today! I am a sucker for jaw dropping before and afters and this nursery/guest room transformation just has me head of over heels floored! What packed the biggest interior design punch you ask? Minted Avery Removable Wallpaper! It’s a total game changer! When I decided to turn our middle bedroom from drab and grey square into an artful wonderland, I knew a stunning mural would make all the difference. We have used Minted for over 6 years. From engagement cards, to bridal shower party supplies to our annual Christmas cards, Minted has filled our lives with artful touches at every turn. When it came time to find an artistic mural, Minted did not disappoint. I have been eyeing the work of Minted artist - Parima Studio for a long time. (I’ve had her prints in my cart for months). She’s an acrylic and new media artist based out of Oxnard, CA. Her pieces are vibrant, fresh and modern. When I came across the Avery Wall Mural, I instantly felt connected to the movement and blissful nature of the brush strokes. It’s like a giant art installation that made me happy, every time I looked at it!
The best part about the Avery Wall Mural, it’s REMOVABLE! That’s right! Gone are the days of traditional wallpaper that damaged your walls and took a million years to peel off. Self-adhesive wallpaper and murals is the single most impactful design trend of 2018. The material Minted Murals are printed on is unlike anything else I have worked with before. It’s woven (like a cloth) and has a very subtle, mat, premium-feeling texture. The backing is sticky, much like a giant, reposition-able sticker. My favorite part of the mural is that it’s made with recycled materials and PVC free. The premium latex ink is extremely vibrant and sharp. I would rate the quality of this removable mural a 10 out of 10.
One of the questions I get asked most frequently is “is it easy to do”. And the answer is “YES!”. If I can install all 7 panels, by myself, in under 3 hours, you can too! I estimate 20-30 minutes to prep, position, stick, smooth and trim each panel. I am 5’3” and all I needed was a step stool and razor.
The biggest tip I can offer, especially if you have an older home like we do is – don’t assume your walls are straight! Many recommend lining up the top of the wallpaper to the top of the wall BUT what if your walls are slightly slanted like mine? I usually leave 1-2 inches of room at the top and trim it off afterwards. This makes matching up the pattern a lot easier. Plus, you don’t end up following a crooked wall.
I hope these tips help with your installation process. I would highly recommend jumping on the removable wall paper trend! It’s such a statement piece and I will treasure it for years to come!
Happy decorating!
