Neutral Blush and White Spring Master Bedroom Makeover
It’s no secret spring is my favorite season. The explosion of flowers, gorgeous weather and warm breezy just puts me in a renewing mood. I think spring is all about refresh and restore. It’s a feeling of casual elegance. I wanted to carry the same sense into my master bedroom with just the right touch of color to compliment the season. Today I am sharing my top 3 tips for a neutral spring bedroom makeover.
Tip 1: Layer and texture makes any neutral palette rich.
Do you know how to dress a bed? I take a very casual approach and believe there are so many ways to layer. This simple formula works wonders for a neutral palette that is rich in texture. I chose the accent color blush to highlight the floral elements of our peony mural. I wanted it still to feel neutral enough my husband doesn’t completely cringe. So, we worked in layers of white to give everything a crisp feeling. Here is my bedding formula. I call it, layers of 3s. We build the base with 3 layers of bedding, then dress with 3 layers of pillows.
First: Sheets + Coverlet + Accent Throw
Second: Sham +King & Standard Pillows + Accent Pillows
Usually, Alternating colors in each layer gives the look much needed contrast.
Here are the products I used for my 3 sheet/bedding layers:
1. Legends® 600-Thread Count Sateen Flat Sheet & Fitted Sheet (the most stunning rose, blush color I have ever seen)
3. Organic Cotton Blanket & Throw
Not only does this method provide visual stimulation, it is also practical for the warmer weather. My husband sleeps hot and I like to nuzzle under blankets. He can kick the layers off in the night to find his perfect temperature and I can pull on as many layers and I need.
Pillow Layers:
2. Legends® 600-Thread Count Sateen Pillowcases
4. Belgium Linen Pillow Cover - Boudoir – Large
Alternating color is key again here. I also like stacking the pillows alternating shapes. We go back and forth from square to rectangle to give every pillow the opportunity to shine. My favorite way to introduce interest is to mix and match the textures. Here in the pillows, we have an embossed texture from the shams, adding the furry, woven details of the Woven Shag Pillow and finally finishing the details with the raw edging on the Belgium linen lumbar. This might be my favorite pillow combination just yet!
Tip 2: Create a reading/ resting nook
I love carrying a theme throughout a space, which allows the eyes to bounce around the room. A reading nook accompanied by layers throws and pillows says inviting to me. This corner begs for laughter and relaxation. I carried the same blush and white neutral theme to my vintage peacock chair. I added a cowhide pillow (Jersey Cowhair Accent Pillow) for texture interest. I love it blended with the reversible, Cotton Emmett Throw. If you have ever wanted an adult version of a super soft comfy swaddle, the Emmett is your BFF. It’s neutral enough for hubby’s approval too. Finish off the look with fresh greenery and flowers to give it a true spring feel!
Tip 3: Enjoy the space
Seriously, throw on your favorite PJs (Chambray Linen Sleepwear – Short Set), breath, relax, close the door and turn on some music. The bedroom isn’t just for sleeping. Reclaim it as your sanctuary. Get take out and enjoy it in bed! We picked up some Chicken and Waffles from Bellagreen down the street and had a little brunch party, right in bed. Spring is not just for renewing the look but also refreshing our outlook. Let the casual, cheerful feeling carry you through the day.
