With the cooler weather here and the leaves falling, it is OFFICIALLY fall and I think this is something we have all been desperately waiting for! The fall season is meant for all of the fun family traditions. So, to go with the fresh air we wanted to try some fresh traditions in our very own backyard. Up your grill game! Traeger for the win!
Even though this football season looks a little less crowded, there are just a few things you need to make the best tailgate in your very own backyard! Of course while watching the games, we have to grill some of our favorite food! Cookouts have always been a part of our family traditions, but I recently have taken it to the next level, because Traeger Grills literally makes the best meat and side dishes we have ever had! It gets my taste buds jumping even thinking about it! Kevin is usually the griller and was so impressed-we are constantly thinking about the next dish we need to grill with our new gear! When you guys saw our new palette grill on my stories, you flooded my inbox with recipes and your favorite dish to make. I honestly think a Traeger is the best thing we could have purchased for dad this whole year! Kevin grilled up tomahawk steaks and connected his phone to the Traeger WiFire Grill. 2. Giant Yard Games - With a Colorful Spin!
With Bodhi being older and Kai love being outdoors, I knew I had to bring all our indoor activities outside! One of our new traditions this year is creating a custom backdrop for the occasion and painting our own backyard games to go along with our picnic! Kai absolutely loved picking a paint color from Behr and making her one-of-a-kind outdoor festive decoration with some games. Kai picked out Big Jenga , Connect Four, and Giant Dice and she thought it was the coolest thing to have these games as big as her! We even painted the game pieces to match our photo backdrop! We used BEHR exterior paint in satin. We painted Kai’s outdoor playhouse with the same line last year and after a whole year weathering the backyard, it’s really held up to the test of time! 3. Set the mood - bring the tunes!
What is a cookout without some tunes on the patio!!! Google Nest Mini is basically a family member at this point because we use it all day, every day! Kai is always the DJ and loves to throw on her dancing shoes! I love that the Google Nest Mini is so affordable and we can connect one in practically every room. We have a premium music subscription through Google - Youtube Premium and it’s made searching for ANY song via voice so easy and ad free. We will also connect our Google Chromcast to the TV on the next game day outside and just use our phones to stream and mirror the game to the TV! Isn’t this technology SO cool?
4. Attention to details!
A backyard game day needs plenty of functional details too. We added outdoor cafe string lights to the patio and it just redefined the space. These are THE best reviewed lights I have found for the price. I love that the bulbs are not glass and won’t shatter! We also found really beautiful mosquito repellents that double as beautiful lanterns. When the bugs get so bad outside, you need these to stay out past dusk!
Lastly, ever cleanup part too! Somehow cleaning outside during the chilly weather doesn’t seem as bad, anyone else? I love that Home Depot even has the big Glad trash bags to gather all of our fun mess! With the music on and bellies full, even this could be fun for the kids to help with! I call it the cleanup time game and we are timed to do it under 10 minutes to keep Kai engaged.
