3 Tips for Cozy Holiday Photos with Kids

3 Tips for Cozy Holiday Photos with Kids

Christmas card season is upon us y’all! I know we are getting a little more settled at home this year. Many of us are still sending out cards in a more cozy fashion this year. In my earlier styling years, I used to help photographers with their mini session. I would style outfits for the whole family and then be on set the whole day for shoots. The secret is that NO family looks as happy as the photos. Don’t stress, kids will be kids! There will be pure chaos at some point. It’s all going to be okay and a part of the process. Today, I wanted to share the 3 tips that have helped us through many photo sessions. Here’s to a smooth, memorable and fun time!

3 Tips for Cozy Holiday Photos with Kids

1. Think cozy outfits.

Kids LOVE to be comfy! As we get more into lounging season, these cozy themed shoots set up the kids to have a better time. When there isn’t fancy outfits or uncomfortable shoes involved, everyone stays happy longer. A beautiful coordinating outfit doesn’t have to break the bank. A great resource for comfy, modern style is Gerber Modern Moments available at Walmart. The organic material is Standard 100 Oeko-Tex® Certified so that you don’t have to worry about harmful substances. It’s 97% cotton w/ organic fibers / 3% spandex and OH SO COMFY! I love mixing up natural hues and designs. The cuts and silhouettes are so modern, it’s like a gem found from small boutiques. I love how I can mix and match the sets to create easy outfits too. Sibling coordinating is so on trend with Gerber Modern Moments available at Walmart. Best part, the collection starts at $2.84- $12.84. The quality is amazing for the price! Linking my favorite pieces below!

2. Keep the energy high!

Kids feed off their environment. Put on their favorite jam, play a game of chase, tickle brother or peekaboo sister. The best way to keep everyone natural and smiling is to have fun interactions. Never underestimate the power of play! These candid shots are my favorites!

3. Let the little ones help.

Have you noticed how kiddos are so curious about the camera? Let them see the equipment, teach them the process, show them the photos. Take a picture with the hands on the shutter. You’d be surprised how much pride they take being the little helper.

Hope your holiday cozy family photoshoots will go super smooth this year!

Stay Joyful!
